The improvement and expansion of transportation options has a long history in the Mad River Valley; as a result, there is much to celebrate! The Mad River Valley Transportation Advisory Committee (MRV TAC) has launched “Mobility Matters,” an ongoing series to highlight transportation-related successes, challenges, and opportunities.

The first article, published in the 5/27/21 Valley Reporter, details the history of the Waitsfield West Sidewalk Project – there’s a lot more that goes into planning for a sidewalk than you might think! With sidewalk construction underway, this article aims to provide context for how it came to be, what those “bump outs” are, and recognize the many community members who contributed to its implementation.
