Twenty-two community members attended the Boyce Hill Historical Site walk on May 20, 2023, at Boyce Hill in North Fayston. Participants were guided by Sam Ford, the consultant hired to conduct historical site research that will inform the Town of Fayston’s management plan for this parcel and help the community understand its historical uses.
Many people today are familiar with Boyce Hill for its stunning vistas and accessible trails, but participants in Saturday’s site walk had the opportunity to deepen their connection with the forest by engaging in its rich history. Sam Ford explored the nuances in construction styles of stone walls, historical farm management practices, as well as the history of the families that lived on Boyce Hill.
A final report and a digital repository of all research documents compiled during this project will be delivered by the end of June. The research materials will be open to the public, and there is the opportunity for a future site walk next fall or spring should there be further interest.
